7 Ways to Respond to the Rising Tide of Anti-Christian Hatred | Dr. Michael Brown

from Charisma News

In the aftermath of the Supreme Court’s decision on marriage, which effectively codifies Bible believers as bigots, the attack on conservative Christian values has reached fever pitch.

This is not the slightest surprise, as I and many others have been warning for some time now, but the ferocity and ugliness of it is still shocking, and it is something we must be prepared for.

The other day I posted on Twitter, “Much has changed since the SCOTUS decision, but more has not changed. Jesus is still Lord, the world is still fallen, Satan is still raging.”

An “equality” advocate responded by challenging me to name one thing in my life that had changed since the decision.

We’re not about to crawl into a hole and die | Dr. Michael Brown

from OneNewsNow.com

Over and over again we are told that we have lost the culture wars and that it’s time for us to throw in the towel and capitulate, especially as the Supreme Court’s decision on redefining marriage is about to be announced (or has even been announced by the time you read this article).

I’m here to announce that no matter what the Supreme Court says … no matter what the President says … no matter what society says … we are not bowing down to anyone other than the Lord Himself. And with God’s help, there’s not a shred of a possibility that we will compromise our convictions when it comes to the meaning of marriage.

Why We Should Care About Israel Today | Dr. Michael Brown

Many believers today, especially in the younger generation, have serious questions about why they should stand with the people of Israel. What connection, they wonder, does the modern State of Israel have with ancient biblical prophecy? After all, didn’t Paul state in Romans 9:6 that “not all Israel is Israel”?

And, why should Christians stand with Israel when Israel is allegedly guilty of committing atrocities against the Palestinians? What about standing on the side of justice?

Why focus on the salvation of Jewish people as if their salvation were more important than the salvation of any other people group? To give priority to the salvation of Israel would imply favoritism (or even racial discrimination) on the part of God.

These are serious questions that deserve serious answers, so let’s examine them carefully, following Paul’s discussion in Romans 9-11 in detail.

The Wrath of God is Coming | Michael Brown

from Charisma News

Revelation 6 presents this shattering, overwhelming account: “Then the kings of the earth and the great ones and the generals and the rich and the powerful, and everyone, slave and free, hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains, calling to the mountains and rocks, ‘Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who is seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb, for the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?'” (vv. 15-17)

Do we just ignore this because Revelation is hard to understand? Shouldn’t this rather shake us to the core because, as surely as God is God, His wrath will one day be poured out on a sinful and rebellious world?

Peter, like Paul, told us that this should affect the way we live today.

First, he describes what is coming: “But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed.”

Then he makes application: “Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness, waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, and the heavenly bodies will melt as they burn!”

And he adds this promise: “But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. Therefore, beloved, since you are waiting for these, be diligent to be found by him without spot or blemish, and at peace” (2 Pet. 3:10-14).

The wrath of God is coming, and a new heaven and earth are coming.

How then should we live, and what then should we preach?

How Should We Be Living? | Dr. Michael Brown

from Charisma News:

The time for slumber and playing games is long past, and the time for complacency is gone.

The harvest is ripe, the needs are overwhelming, and the potential is extraordinary.

The power of God is totally available, and the Lord Jesus is enthroned in power, ready to send, anoint and bless and use.

It is time to wake up, stand up and show up.

Not tomorrow. Not next year. Not somewhere else. But today, this year, where you live, right now.

How should we be living? “For the eyes of Yahweh roam throughout the earth to show Himself strong for those whose hearts are completely His” (2 Chron. 16:9).

Live with such wholehearted devotion that the Lord will show Himself strong on your behalf.

You will never have a regret.

That is how we should be living.

A Shameful Day in Evangelical Christian Publishing | Michael Brown

Matthew Vines professes to be a 'gay Christian.'
Matthew Vines professes to be a ‘gay Christian.’
from Charisma News

It is a sad and shameful day when a major Christian publisher releases a book like this and claims that it is a solid evangelical publication, and it needs to be addressed and exposed, Michael Brown says.

In short, those who want to revise biblical sexuality and morality have moved away from the Word of God, and if they have any sense of integrity, they need to renounce their claim to be evangelicals—and that includes Cobb, if he personally claims to be one—and say, “We are liberal Christians who no longer hold to the authority of Scripture, because of which we embrace homosexual relationships.”In refusing to do so, they have muddied the waters of the faith, brought reproach on the gospel, further confused a very lost society, and become propagators of deception in the church. And they will answer to God for all this one day.As things stand now, the same publishing conglomerate that released books by an evangelical author like Joshua Harris with titles and subtitles like I Kissed Dating Goodbye and Sexual Purity in a Lust-Saturated World is releasing a book championing the idea that God blesses two men (or women) having sex with each other as long as they are committed. This is madness.

A Deadly, Anti-Israel Theological Error | Michael Brown

from Charisma News

noreplacement theologyThe idea that God is finished with the Jewish people as a nation and that the church has replaced Israel in God’s plan is not only a serious theological error. It is a deadly one as well.

It was this false theology that helped fuel the fires of Jew hatred in one of the early church’s most respected leaders, John Chrysostom (347-407), who once said, “God hates the Jews, and on Judgment Day will say to those who sympathize with them: ‘Depart from Me, for you have had intercourse with My murderers!’ Flee, then, from their assemblies, fly from their houses, and hold their synagogue in hatred and aversion.”

Without this erroneous theology, the Crusades would never have taken place 700 years later.

It was this false theology that helped fuel the fires of Jew hatred in the great reformer Martin Luther (1483-1546), who gave this counsel to the German princes of his day: “First, to set fire to their synagogues or schools. … Second, I advise that their houses also be razed and destroyed. … Instead they might be lodged under a roof or in a barn, like the gypsies. … Third, I advise that all their prayer books and Talmudic writings, in which such idolatry, lies, cursing, and blasphemy are taught, be taken from them. Fourth, I advise that their rabbis be forbidden to teach henceforth on pain of loss of life and limb.” (For many more examples, see my book Our Hands Are Stained With Blood.)

The Contemporary Gospel of Me | Dr. Michael Brown

from Charisma News

The biblical gospel starts with God and tells me what I can do to please Him. The contemporary gospel—which is really no gospel at all—starts with me and tells me what God can do to please me.

It is this fundamental difference that lies at the root of so much theological error in the church, and it is this mindset that defines our American society today. “It’s all about me!”

So what do many contemporary believers do today? We preach a candy-coated gospel, watering down sin, eliminating God’s holiness and making the death of Jesus absolutely meaningless. After all, if we are not deserving of death and judgment, why did Jesus have to hang on the cross? Why should He die for our sins if we don’t have to?

So, we make excuses for God’s standards, explaining to the sinner how happy he’ll be if he’ll just be nice enough to ask Jesus into his heart, as if Jesus is standing out in the rain, cold and wet and rejected, hoping and wishing someone would just open the door and let Him in. That is the contemporary gospel.

There’s no fear of the Lord, no warning of judgment and no denouncing of sin—just a better life for me if I will simply believe. And that’s one reason our society is on the verge of moral collapse. It’s time to get back to the gospel of Jesus!
