Dear President Obama, I Have a Solution for Your “Islamist” Dilemma | Michael Youssef

Dear President Obama,

Please know that I am one of those who pray for you on a regular basis. The Scriptures command me to pray for those in leadership.

Please also know that any criticism I have regarding your foreign policies are neither personal nor political. I have found some across the aisle from you who have equally questionable views regarding such policies.

Although I don’t presume to enter into your mind nor know your motives, I think I understand the process of your thinking regarding radical Islam. Incidentally, I think also some of the President George W. Bush’s administration may share some of your views.

Given your childhood years spent in Indonesia, and your friendships then with some Muslims at school and in that country in general, you have a deep aversion to calling fundamentalist Muslims by the appropriate name: “Islamists” or “Jihadists.” You fear that by doing so, you would appear to paint all Muslims with the same brush.

The Antichrist and the Muslim Mahdi (Part 1) | Michael Youssef

Daniel tells us that the Antichrist will speak “boastfully” (Daniel 7:8), yet it is clear that these will not be empty boasts. The Antichrist will appear to possess superhuman brilliance. He’ll be the ultimate smooth talker, the greatest con-man who ever lived, and he’ll unite the nations under his rule. At first, he’ll seem to be a wise and benevolent dictator, bringing peace, prosperity, and hope. But once he is firmly in control of the gears and levers of power, he’ll reveal his true intentions.

The way has been paved for such a leader. Atheists, humanists, New Age mystics, Hindus, Buddhists, and Islamists have little in common with each other—but they all share in the belief that Jesus is not the only way to salvation. There are even many self-styled “Christians” who deny the Lord’s claim to be the only way to God. So it will be easy for the Antichrist to establish himself to many as an acceptable alternative.

In these days of muddled and confused worldviews, it is vitally important to know the truth. After all, Jesus said, “The truth will set you free.” As events unfold, we need to see them not only through the cameraman’s lens, but also through the lens of biblical revelation.

That the Antichrist is coming is known—only the timing is unknown. Although we know not the hour of night that the thief comes, we must be prepared nonetheless.

Are True Christians Persecuted in America? | Michael Youssef

from MichaelYoussef.com

You better believe it!

Sure, if you only equate persecution with those who are burned alive inside churches like Islamists do to Christians in Nigeria, then we are not.

If you mean persecution only applies to those who are beheaded with a dull-edge sword as Islamists do to Christians in Syria, then again, no.

If you mean it is only about crucifying people alive as Islamists do to Christians in Pakistan and elsewhere, then that doesn’t apply either.

The subtler persecution of Christians in America, which began mildly with the media mocking Jimmy Carter’s “born again” claim, has escalated rapidly in the last five years.

Preparing for Our Audience of One | Michael Youssef

from MichaelYoussef.com

You may not believe it, but God will indeed meet each of us after our death. Then, He will ask us to give an account of how we invested the life and resources that He placed in our hands.

Mercifully, God gives us seasons and years so we can take stock of our lives, and when we come up short, we can start anew. This New Year, instead of just ringing out the old and ringing in the new, we all need to do an audit of our lives. We should determine, with God’s help, how we can re-up our purpose for living.

Remember, it is never too late with God.

So whatever the coming year brings, I am re-upping my commitment and my passion. If I know anything about God’s Word, I know He rejoices in our Godly desire, and He will supernaturally empower it to become a reality.

Have a faith-full New Year!

Keep Jesus Out of Your Socialism, Part 2 | Michael Youssef

from Michael Youssef.com

Would Jesus endorse government policies that encourage and enable addiction, indolence, and welfare fraud? Certainly not. The Religious Left should read His parables, especially the Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:14-30), the Parable of the Vineyards (Matthew 20:1-16), and the Parable of the Tenants (Matthew 21:33-46). In those parables, Jesus blesses hard work, personal responsibility and the freedom to achieve.

Government programs can’t separate the truly needy from the welfare cheats—but private Christian charities can. Private charities are far more effective than government at meeting needs, changing lives, eliminating fraud and waste, and dispensing compassion. Our stance as Christians should be pro-compassion, not pro-bureaucracy.

The place for compassionate Christian social action is in the church, and in the lives of individual believers. When the church becomes a political pressure group, telling the government, “Confiscate more wealth from those who earned it and give it to those who have not,” then the church has formed an unholy union with the kingdoms of this world.

Income redistribution is not Christianity. It’s Marxism—and mixing the two only pollutes the Gospel and betrays the Great Commission.

Keep Jesus Out of Your Socialism | Michael Youssef

from Michael Youssef.com

“Both the religious and secular Left in America seem to want government to replace the church in ministering to the poor and needy. One of Barack Obama’s first proposals as president was a plan to slash tax deductions for charitable donations by high-income taxpayers. President Obama reasoned that a tax deduction “shouldn’t be a determining factor as to whether you’re giving that hundred dollars to the homeless shelter.” Maybe so—but since private charities do so much good for the poor, why eliminate incentives for charitable giving? Could it be that liberals see private charities as competing with the big government welfare state?

In Romans 13, Paul tells us that we pay our taxes and support the government so that we will have a just, orderly society in which law-abiding citizens are protected from wrongdoers. But the responsibility for mercy and compassion belongs to the church—not the government.

What would Jesus cut? When He stood before the Roman Empire, He didn’t suggest cuts. He received cuts. His flesh was cut by Roman nails and a Roman spear. He was bruised for our transgressions, and with His cuts we are healed. That’s the gospel of Jesus Christ.”

Obama’s Foreign Policy Kills Christians | Michael Youssef

Before the U.S. invasion of Iraq, there were 1.4 million Christians in that country. Now it would be a stretch to find 300,000.

So much for America’s protection of Christians.

Today, because of Western policies, Christians are being killed in greater numbers than during the first century Roman Empire.

I do not expect Islamist groups to care about the anti-Christian posturing of Western governments. But for heaven’s sake and the sake of their own eternal judgment, may foreign policy makers of the U.S. and Western governments understand their culpability in this matter and do something about it.
