How to Conquer the Porn Epidemic in the Church

from Charisma News

Are we really supposed to buy into the idea that 68 percent of men in church watch porn regularly? Could this just be sensational rhetoric?

Not according to a national survey among churches. The survey conducted over the past five years revealed that 68 percent of Christian men and 50 percent of pastors view pornography regularly. But even more shocking is that 11-17 year-old boys reported being its greatest users.

The church is in the sexual battle of its life. As these boys become adults, the church will be flooded with porn addicts. Pastor James Reeves of City On A Hill Church DFW has successfully tackled porn addiction in his church. He warns, “This problem is going to sweep through the church like a tsunami wave of destruction and we’re not prepared for it.”

Why and how to celebrate Chanukah | D. Thomas Lancaster

from Beth Immanuel Sabbath Fellowship

hannukahmenorahChanukah is an important, prophetic story predicted in detail by the prophet Daniel. In that sense, Chanukah is a biblical festival, even though it was not instituted until after the last book of the Old Testament had been written. It is also mentioned in the New Testament. Yeshua went to the Temple for the Feast of Chanukah.

Yeshua talked about Chanukah. He warned his disciples that the things that happened in the story of Chanukahwould happen again (Mark 13:13-16 and 24:15-18). To understand what he was saying, his disciples had to know the story of Chanukah. If Yeshua talked about the story of Hanukah and his disciples knew the story, do you think it should matter to us?

Chanukah is a story of religious persecution and standing up for your faith in God. Yeshua tells us we can expect persecution, but he also tells us that we must stand firm in our faith.

Chanukah celebrates the Festival of the Light of the World. It celebrates the relighting of the Menorah Lamp stand that burned in God’s Holy Temple. The Menorah Lamp stand was called the “Light of the World.” Yeshua said, “I am the Light of the world,” and another time he told his disciples, “You are the light of the world.”

The Only Foundation for Youth Ministry

from the Gospel Coalition by Josh Cousineau

Love youth enough to win them with the foundation truth of Jesus, his love, his forgiveness for their wrongdoing, his loving acceptance, and most of all his sacrifice, which made it possible to be right with God the Father. Many pastors have observed, “What you win them with is what you win them to.” I want students to be won to Jesus, not jokes and games. I must trust in the Spirit, not my amazing programs, to work in my midst.

We’re called to build our lives on the firm foundation of Christ, the chosen, precious cornerstone, and we will not be put to shame (1 Peter 2.4-7). I don’t know about you, but I have seen God as more than faithful in my life. There will always be another method of how to do youth ministry, or the best way to reach students. Let’s take God at his word and build our ministries on Jesus and Jesus alone. He is the only firm foundation your students need.
